What’s up Church!? Tonights lesson is a short but VERY powerful one! The last few weeks have been very hectic but God is truly moving in HUGE ways in ALL of our lives. It makes my heart smile to see the true change in the mens/womens hearts that come into the Church and then go home to do great things! Im especially proud of Brother Austin in Carrol! Love you my brother!
So, on to the lesson…
Overcoming Doubt
Lets look at Mark 11:23 in the KJV: For verily I say unto you (this is Jesus speaking), That whosoever shall say unto this mountian, Be thou removed, and be cast thou into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Now, lets look at a little Greek and talk about this because what I’m about to show y’all completely changed the game for me pertaining to this verse and our God given ability to overcome any doubts that we may have. Doubts about our futures being successful, doubts about making enough income to provide for ourselves and our families, doubts about stayimg sober, you name it!
So here we are:
Doubt means to waver, and if we look also at James 1:6, what does it say? It says to let us ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. The greek word used for doubt in Mark and waver in James is the same word!
So why does that matter? Because in James he mentions asking in faith, nothing wavering (NO DOUBT).
Okay, lets flip back to Mark 11:23 and look at the word heart in the Greek:
Heart means the place within man where both mental and moral activity take place with both rational and emotional elements. It is also in the sphere of Divine influence.
It also stands for
The seat of physical life, the seat of moral nature & spiritual life.
It is where…
Grief Joy The desires Affections Perceptions Thoughts Understanding Reasoning powers Imagination Conscience Intentions Purpose Will & FAITH
Reside…
So why am I sayimg all of this? Well, stick with me because its about to get really good!
So Mark says to say to this mountian be thou removed and be cast into the sea…don’t doubt when you say it and it will come to pass…(paraphrasing of course)
Heres the key: what do the words mountian and sea mean in Greek? Well, im glad you asked!
Mountian: proverbially, overcoming difficulties or accomplishing great things Sea: metaphorically, where impossiblilties go.
Dont believe me? Look up #3735 and #2281 in the Strongs Concordance of The Bible…
I mean wow, ask in faith, dont doubt, move the mountian (whats doubted) cast it away into the sea…believe…have what you say. Oh man, the power of the Holy Spirit!
Lets close with 2 more verses to really lock this in:
Matthew 19:26 and Mark 9:23
Be blessed Church! Love y’all!
